Laugh Out Loud!

In consulting editor Donald L. Cooper, MD, is a team physician for the football and basketall teams and director ofthe Student Health Center at Oklahoma State University.  He was appointed by President Reagan to the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, and reappointed by President Bush.  He is also popular speaker and humorist.

Dr. Cooper, a Presbyterian layman, became a humorist many years ago after a couple of crippling episodes with depression.  ONe episode hospitalized him and brought to the edge of suicide.

He says that his faith, humor, the love and support of his family, exercise, and medication prescribed by a physicial helped him ride out both episodes of depression.

He advises depressed persons to “hang on to your faith” and “cultivate sense of humor.”  He says: “Don’t give up.  Depression is self-limited, and if you hang on, it will pass.”  Says Dr. Cooper:  “I give 30 to 40 lectures a year on stress management, and my No. 1 emphasis  on managing stress is laughter.”

Dr. Cooper tells jokes and stories endlessly.  He observes that the great medical missionary and Nobel Prize winner, Albert Schweitzer, had a keen sense of humor and often told jokes and stories to cheer up his patients.

Benefits of Drinking Enough Water

I always have in mind to drink as much as 8 glasses of simple water each day.  Not because it will help me lose weight, but I can just feel my body regulation seems fine when i have enough water in the body.  There are days I drink enough, there are also days when I just had 4 glasses for the whole 8 hours at work.  It’s not because there is no water supply, it’s just plainly because i forgot or my lazyness.

Now, let me share here the great benefits of drinking enough water:

1.  it allows proper digestion

2. it increases our mental and physical performance

3. it improves energy

4. it reduces headaches and dizzyness

5.  helps lose weight

6.  keep skin healthy and glowing

7.  remove toxins and waste products in your body.

Don’t Dry Your Eyes

Do you have red, stinging eyes? If so then you may have dry eyes. I sometimes experience this when I spend more than 24 hours straight infront of the computer. Even at 12 hrs, my eyes gave me that “warning” for a need of rest.

What causes red, stinging eyes? Dr. Robert Latkany, author of The Dry Eye Remedy says that red stinging eyes can be caused by everything – from contacts to rosacea which can lead to impaired vision and eye infection.

To free your eyes from the pain, he gave this simple tips:

– Eat fish. In a study, women who ate tuna two or more times a week had decreased symptoms. Fish oil supplements also helps.

At home, we don’t usually buy tuna fish because not everyone can eat. My mom does not eat tuna since her heart ailment. But we everyone takes fish oil supplements like Squalene.

– Rest your eyes at TV commercials. Blinking produces tears, but when you stare at the screen, you blink less.

This holds true too for pc users. I should give my eyes a rest from the pc screen.

– Give up contact lens until your doctor says it’s ok.

– Get enough sleep. As you sleep, your eyes is replenished. Skimping cheats your eyes of the process.

Hmmm am really guilty of this because I spend more than 12 hrs in a day infront of the computer. I don’t go to sleep until my brain screams at me that I should get sleep because the next day is already working day.

OH well, I need to follow these advises. I hope all of you who reads this will also be helped.

Benzoyi Peroxide

As a result of a UK study, the Benzoyi Peroxide lotion in a tube is as good as prescripion antibiotics for the treatment of mild to moderate acne. 

So maybe what i had is more than moderate because it did not work for me.  I always have this monthly makulit acne that whatever fad medication out in the market i would also try.  BP can be bought without prescription and it’s available in all drug stores nationwide.
