Tears

Who said tears are bad and tears are only for women.  Guys are teased if they cry.  I really wonder why they think that tears are only for the weak.  I was reading an article earlier and let me crop some paragraphs sot that men and women alike will be more educated about tears.

  • Tears are necessary to wash human nearsightedness and egotistic perstpective.  Tears are experession of regrets, memories, and anticipation.
  • Shedding tears of of regrets is just a normal way of accepting personal vulnerability and finiteness.
  • Tears of memories are expressions of our identity with the past and its people and circumstances.
  • Tears of anticipation should motivate us to act decently and righteously.

Personally, when i feel so much heavy inside and nobody fights me so i could cry, i watch movies just to release tears of tension.  I love the feeling afterwards.  Stress are to be release to keep one’s sanity.  Right?

Am feeling a bit blue earlier but since i worked so hard in clearing up a part of my office so that the office furniture of my new companion will be set there in coming days. There will be 3 more people who will join me and my bosses in using this office. weehehehe.  It’s not going to be totally sad anymore. :)

Prevention is Better than Cure

I just finished reading a bit about Swine Influenza (flu) and it was clear that the virus is not spread through eating pork products.  But it would not be bad if people will abstain eating fresh pork products of last week until a year later.

People who work closely with fouls and swine are at higher risk of acquiring the virus and become a host then carrier.  So one way to lessen the risk is to often thoroughly washed hands with germ killing soap.  Since the symptoms are just similar to having a seasonal flu, so washing the hands should be constantly practiced – young and old should do this.

Now i am beginning to understand that even though i haven’t eaten pork all my life, but was or will be in hand contact with someone who is a carrier, then i can and my family can get sick, too.  So for now, i think it’s cool to do the following:

1.   Abstain from meat eating for now.

2.  Abstain from dairy products til the virus scare goes away.

3.   Eat a healthy diet (fruits and vegetables)

4.  Exercise for a strong body (strong immune system)

5.  Avoid lack of sleep to avoid weaking the immune system.

6.  Avoid overcrowded public places.

7.  Take lots of vitamin C.

8.  Wash hands regularly.  If possible, carry sanitizers so that you can sanitize your hands after accessing public places.

9.  Orient the kids on what to do in this time of virus scare.

10.  Be responsible enough to be aware and be updated on what’s going on regarding this health scare to avoid unnecessary worries.  At most times it’s the worry and stress that kills not the swine nor bird flu virus.

Don’t Take Diarrhea Lightly…

because diarrhea has previously been proven that it affects the growth and physical fitness and lately they discovered that it also affects mental ability especially children.

Scientists from the University of Virginia observed hundreds of children living in a Brazilian shanty for 14 years.  They found out that infants who were often sick with diarrhea exhibited stunted mental development at the age of 10.   It was then concluded by the researchers that while these children with ill with Diarrhea, their bodies could not absorb certain vital nutrients.

So parents, don’t take diarrhea lightly.  Always be sure that whatever is fed to the kids are clean and will not make their tummy sick.

Tinolang Fried Fish

p1010128

Ingredients:

3 pcs fried fish (small size is fine)
sliced ginger
sliced onions
cubes tomatoes
camote tops

Boil the water with ginger and tomatoes.  Add in the fried fish with the onions once the water boils.  Add salt to taste.  Cover until it boils then add the camote tops.  Let it simmer.  Then serve hot.

Sounds nice for a hearty lunch.   But i look forward to a romantic breakfast in bed when i go to a holiday get away in a San Diego hotel.  So I should not stop dreaming about my American dream.

Medical Causes of Fatigue

According to the health magazine i am reading, some of the common medical causes in in women for fatigue are the following:

  • Anemia – which is caused by lack of iron in the blood.  This is the primary medical explanation for fatigue in women of childbearing age.
  • Thyroid disease, which may affect up to 10% of women.  Symptoms include fatigue, difficulty losing weight, extremely dry skin and hair, and sensitivity to cold.
  • Depression, which an underdiagnosed  condition among women, says Dr. Moskowitz.  Fortunately there are now more options available than ever to treat it.
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).  Symptoms include: severe fatigue lasting for more than six months that does not improve with rest, impaired memory and thought processes, pain, and sleep difficulties.  Although CFS gets a lot of media attention, according to Dr. Robyn Goshorn only about one in 375 people has the disease.

If i do a self diagnosis,  i would pick depression but as am often reading about CFS, i am having second thoughts — maybe i fall for that too. This is not a joke problem for me.  I kept on gaining weight although i don’t eat much.  But if i go out with friends who loves to eat like there is no more tomorrow then i need best appetite suppressant so that i wont’ add more weight.

Food Cravings

I crave for “nice” food most of the day but most to the time i don’t give in to the craving.  At times i eat too even if I don’t feel hungry so i guess this what made me add on this unwanted weight in my body.   I decided that incase i will have the feeling to eat again, i wll just munch on diced cucumber and carrots.  Dried and baked peanuts is a nice choice too but i am allergic if i eat too much high protein foods.  I have tried this before but it does not fill my tummy.  I crave for something like noodles, or burger, or chinese bing but not anything sweets.  I love to eat sweets when there are no other choices of foods. :)

OH well, i just suddenly thought of food because of the Food Trip Friday meme. :)   I am going to post a food i once ate while in Bangkok the other year.  I think we had that from a Thai fast food restaurant at big mall.

Now am going to check on Outer Banks rentals to see if it will help me with my craving for food. Aha food!

Ginataan Recipe

p1010107

We had this treat Thursday and Friday of the holy week.   Some are asking how did we cook this, so let me try to enumerate here the ingredients and the how to:

INGREDIENTS:

::sticky rice (according to how many people will eat)
::half kilo sugar (brown)
:: grated coconut

::banana (diced)
::sweet potato (diced)
::taro (diced – small size)
::jackfruit (strips)
::sago (colored or non-colored will do)
::ube (optional) (diced)

Steps in cooking:

1.   Put  2 cups of warm water in the grated coconut and press.  Set aside the milk.  (do it 2 times)  The second washing, put in 4 cups.  Set aside the second washing.

2.  Put the grains of sticky rice (or you can use the powdered sticky rice) with the local ingredient called “landang”  into a big kettle.  Put enough water to cook it.  Boil.

3.  After some 20 minutes, put in the coconut milk (the first wash) with the sugar, taro, sweet potato, and the colorless sago.  Stir constantly.  Let it boil again.

4.  When the sticky rice is fully cooked, add in the banana,  jackfruit and the colored sago.  Put in the second wash of coconut milk.  Let it boil with constant stirring.  Add sugar if needed.

5.  Remove the kettle from fire when all the later ingredients are cooked.

6.  Serve in a regular size  serving bowl.

Ginataan is great merienda for young and old. :)
