Monday Musings {09}

For God so loved the world (and Arlene, and you, and you)  that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but will have an everlasting life.   — John 3:16

That is my favorite verse.  In the past week, in celebration of the holy week and easter all over the world, images of Jesus hanging on wall reminded me how great is the love of God for each one of us that He died on the cross for us.  I understand that if Jesus did not die on the cross, then we are doomed to eternal death.

I hope everyone had a blissful easter week.

Another Power Fruit

I just discovered today that there is this fruit called Paw Paw or other’s call it poor man’s banana.  I then checked out wiki for their a full detail about this tree then i think it’s a new thing for me to learn today.   I learned that Pawpaw is another power fruit because it is double the amount of vitamin C, and is much higher in minerals. It is higher in protein, fiber, and carbohydrate. It has a much higher content of amino acids in a good balance. It has mainly unsaturated fatty acids, and is a good source of linoleic and linolenic acids. They are high in antioxidants.  I still haven’t seen nor heard paw paw trees in this area so i wish there is so that i can have a taste and take a photo of the fruit.  The way the fruit looks is like a cacao, one of our local fruits in this country.

Food Pointers When Working out to Lose Weight

I found this while browsing on health sites.  I can say that am really having a hard time keeping my weight now because of rebound.  Meaning i worked out last year, lose some weight then i got depressed again and i ballooned into what i am now.  And to start again, it’s a struggle.   So the following pointers sounds easy but still determination is needed so one can stick to the guidelines.

Here they are:

  • Keep a food journal. That means write down everything you eat and drink during your day. Try to not eat a heavy dinner or eat too late.
  • Eat only until you are full (for most of us that is about eating half of the food we already consume). If you need to, just get it off your plate right away.
  • Don’t wait to eat until you’re starving. This leads to overeating.
  • Always carry a healthy snack to help you get to the next meal: handful of almonds, some fruit, or even a mini sandwich. No snack foods (chips, candy, fast food, fries, cookies, etc.).
  • Only drink water and your beloved coffee without all the other ingredients that turn it into a milkshake. This means no juices or sodas of any kind.
  • Choose your one night to have alcohol if you must, and it’s better to have wine rather than beer or sugary cocktails (mojitos and martinis with sexy names).
  • Don’t nuke it! Make your food yourself.
  • If you are feeling really motivated, then avoid food made of wheat (pasta, bread, and all baked goods of course). Be mindful that sugar and wheat can really impact your body weight.
  • On Sunday, eat what you want. This is not a license to go crazy – this just means that you can relax, and get that much more fired up for Monday.

The author said that the first days were the toughest ones to workout guides but if one is in for a serious change then it will happen.

Moderate Skin Allergy

Since last week-end ive been itchy in some parts of my body.  The worst is my legs – the one below my knees.  I was thinking it is because i shaved, but no, i saw some small spots (rashes) and i have no antia-allergy meds.  So for some days now am bearing the itchiness.

I guess i just had so much protein in my body  because last week, i ate plenty of high protein fruits (marang & durian) and tofu dishes, roasted beef (1 cup serving) and drank lots and lots of soya milk.  Some cakes too!

So now am eating lots of just plained boiled vegetables. :)
