Vacation Wisdom
By Nutritionist Sue Radd.
You can still stay on track with your health goals even while vacationing. Here’s how.
on the road
Pack fresh fruit and water bottles that are easy to eat and drink in a car. Apples, pears, bananas, and mandarins make good snacks.
For longer trips, make your own sandwiches or wraps rather than leaving yourself at the mercy of fastfood restaurants. Get ride of the candies and processed snacks – they’re just not worth the extra problems they’ll create.
in the air
For long trips, order a special meal in advance-low fat, vegetarian, or diabetic. You will usually get served first, and you can relax, knowing the meal will be healthy. Also, don’t accept all the snacks the flight attendants offer. Move around the cabin as much as possible, and remember that it’s easier to control what you put in your moth than to burn it off. A snack of cheese and crackers can take around 45 minutes of light walking to get ride of the rid of the extra calories!
on the ship
Cruise liners may offer special diet if pre-arranged. Or, you can choose carefully from the buffet. Fill half your plate with salad or steamed vegetables, leave one-quarter for starchy foods, and use the rest for proteins such as beans and tofu. Also, don’t go for seconds, and watch your drinks.
in your hotel room
Avoid food from the minibar. In addition to being overpriced, the offerings tend to be loaded with sugar and fat. Make sure you have plenty of plain water to get you through the night, and bring along some fresh fruit in case you get hungry.
at a restaurant
Pick places that offer healthier choices. Check the menu before you sit down. Go for fresh foods, and avoid fried and creamy dishes. Stick to one course.
Busy Week
The last few days we are so busy here at work and this full schedule will be over tomorrow morning. Last Thursday, it was my birthday, and suppose to be a quiet one because i was pennyless, but thanks to the food preparation for the anniversary i went marketing two times that day. In the afternoon, when we were shopping for the ingredients for chopsuey, Kaldereta, and also for the fried chicken, we used 3 big carts. Good thing i grab along 2 of our office SAs. Since most of the good does not have a visible price tag, yet there was a barcode scanner at the side wherein we can scan to know the price. Unfortunately, the 10 kilos oil (in a big gallon) does not have the bar code that the salesguy has to carry it back to the place where i took it and make sure if the price i told them was right. Poor guy, he wont’ believe me so he carried that big gallon of oil several meters away.
Thanks to Supplements
It’s a busy week and thank God tomorrow is Friday once again. Am tired yet i don’t feel the toll too much because someone gave me some supplement capsules for a try. It’s working great on me (honestly!) same way as Green Perfection did. Today is my birthday and that supplement from Amway is a wish — wish that someone will give me 20 more capsules for free.
So i now have more time to browse about this stainless steel backsplash so that i can suggest this to my cousin in law who is in the process of building his home. He might want to have a part of his kitchen to have metal mosaic tile. I’ve already seen some modern kitchen using a stainless wall. If you are interested of what am sharing here, check out the site and download the catalog and you will really have a hard time to pick which one is the nicest.
I wanna go home now and sleep but not before i could share with my mom and daughter some fruit salad and ice cream we had during lunch time.
I love this card, too!

Cute and dainty. Right? So candy.
External Uses of Water
This is a continuation of what i posted the other day regarding the use of water. In this post, i will share with you the external uses of water.
There are many uses for water outside the body. Regular bathing help to cleanse away dirt and waste products from our skin. Cool water can help to reduce fever and warm water can bring warmth to chilled bodies. A warm bath is helpful if you are having trouble going to sleep. (great sleeping pill)
Trouble waking up in the morning? Try a cool shower or a brisk rub of your skin with a washcloth dipped in cold water. If you are really brave, try adding ice to the water then for sure you will never need another wake up cup of coffee again.
We should always remember that water is the single most important substance in our body. And we can use it abundantly for good health and vitality.
An Announcement
Am suppose to be home now but we are busy working on the anniversary invitation we have to give out this week. Hopefully the final touches will be done later today so tomorrow it can be given out. Another thing to do is to make a baby announcement like she saw at the baby announcements site. But i told her that maybe she can just order it online as her tummy is still 4 weeks old. And ordering online will not take many days. I will see later what she will decide on. I told her to calm down. It’s not nice for her to be so stressed up because it’s not healthy for her fetus.
Food Trip # 14

Wanna have some?
I love the way it looks better than the way it tastes. If i have to eat saba it can just be simply boiled or the raw ripe one. People who have sweet tooths love this banana recipe. If you are one of them, then have some.

Water – Internal Use
According to NESTART – Water is the single most important substance in our body. More than half of our total weight is water. Water is the major component of our blood. Our body also uses water for cooling and cleansing. Water is also necessary to maintain a proper chemical balance in some essential body fluids.
A loss of 20-22% of our body’s water could be very dangerous, even fatal. Where does all the water go? We lose water when we perspires, when we breath, and through body waste.
Forcing the body to work with limited amounts of fluid is like trying to wash the dinner dishes in a cupful of water. How much water should we drink? 8-10 glasses per day (at least) but we should remember that thirst is not always an accurate sign of our need for water. We should drink and drink even if we are not thirsty.
What we drink really matters. Water is the major component of fruit juices, soft drinks, milk, tea, and coffee. However, the sguar in most other beverages can slow digestion, cause extra fat storage and it requires extra water to metabolize.
There are bad consequencies if we don’t drink enough water. Toxic wastes can build up in our body and we can become very tired and our body will work harder to perferm it’s functions. The kidneys may not function adequately without enough water. Water can also act as coolant to keep the body temp a constant 9.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
New Addiction
Just lately am hooked to Facebook’s Farm Town. One of the many applications that make facebookers logged on to FB like addicts. I am now on level 26 and i can’t wait to reach level 30 so that i can purchase gazebos in 2 areas of the farm. As of now, am saving coins so that i can purchase the small white house, then the playground, then the gazebo. Some of my friends have already one installed in their farms beside the house where friends can go for a rest and chit chat. Long hours in farming makes one tired. So a rest and relaxation is a must.
