Pancakes for Snacks

I am not a snack person but if served and and the foodie looks yummy, I just can’t resist.

Yesterday, we went to see Trivie’s doctor and it so happen that they were getting ready for snack time.  They served pancake, fried banana, and slices of ripe bananas.

Looks so yummy!

So I had 2 pieces of that with lots and lots of water.  The weather was so hot that even though we were full during lunch (we attended a birthday celebration) yet we can’t just resist the food the snacks they served.  =)

Moments like this should not be often or else my efforts to lose weight will be a waste of energy. lol! As i’ve mentioned above, I am no snack person so no threat.  Though at times, I have my meals out of the normal schedule because I eat according to what time I have my breakfast.  So if I have brunch then surely by 5 pm I need to have something or else my stomach will be grumpy.

Drinking H2O at the Right Time…

I saw this on my friend’s Facebook wall and I’d like to share it here. It’s been awhile since I wanted to post this, but I blame the delay on time.

The way I understand it - Drinking water at the correct time gives maximum effect on our human body.

2 glasses of water after waking up – helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal – helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath – helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed – avoids stroke or heart attack

It is always good to drink water all the time. But following these recommendations can just maximize the wellness of water in our syste.

Happy Drinking!

Scheduled Physical Examination

Last February, it was posted on the Bulletin Board the workers who has to undergo another set of Physical examination.  It is not every year that a worker has to undergo check-up because it is according to age bracket.  I am entering another milestone of decade in my life that is why I was in the list.  Sounds lucky because my last examination was in June 2010 but this time, PS was added.

I had all the tests and procedures done in February but up to now I still haven’t gone to the doctor to tell me the results of all the tests and of course I am not yet able to submit my medical certificate.   Including in the procedures that I went into was the ecg done at the ER. Good thing it was a friend who performed it on me.  I feel uncomfortable at times to be served by new nurses.  I find them too invasive to private nooks. lol!  I bet there was no abnormality in the reading or else I will be instructed to see my doctor STAT.

Surely on Monday, I will have to bring all the results here to the doctor for issuance of medical certificate.  Please help me pray for a healthy result.

The bed and the ecg machine on the side. ^^

I think it is good to have a yearly physical check-up.  Workers here are not limited to have the PE but if it is your scheduled year, then expenses will not be charged to your personal account.

Loosing the Ability to Cope Low Temperature as Age Increases

I am beginning to feel this inability to withstand the cold.  I even cannot stand being hit directly with the air from the fan without being covered with blanket or jacket.  Gone are the days when I can just enjoy the coolness of a room with thin clothing or less clothing.    The worst case is my mom, she is turning seventy this year and oh my, we have to close all the windows at night even it is sweltering hot.  She feels so cold.  She wears a bonnet to sleep.  She has her thick jacket on as well as she is wearing woolen socks  to really avoid the cold or else she will have a lot of gas in her and she would start burping.  And the burping leads to chest pains.  If I will be given the time and money, I will purchase for her a heated blanket if the heated mattress pad would be too expensive. But I can imagine that if we buy a heated mattress pad now, I can also use it in later life…hmmm maybe around 10 years later.

Anyway, we just allow my mom to cover herself to the max so that she will be warmed because it is better than multiple chest pains attacks and hospitalization that costs more than heated blankets.

Promoting a Smoke Free Community

Our Health Education Department is conducting lectures on Smoking Cessation with an objective that somehow, our community and Iligan City will be a smoke free city.   The program is not news because there are already some cities who bans smoking in public places and even smoking in a house with kids is not allowed.   Because of this program, I felt awkward to give out the Rocky Patel cigars that was sent by my cousin for our relatives who smoke. Although these relatives are staying very far from the city, but there would be no hard to slowly teach them to control their smoking until such time they can voluntarily stop smoking.  But to these uncles, they said that smoking is already part of their lives and if they stop they will surely die.    Because of that statement, that encourages my aunt to send several boxes of cigars for them.

There are many advantages when we have a smoke free community and number one beneficial of it is the health of our children and even ourselves.  We can avoid other terminal diseases if one really stops smoking.  It is not a quick thing to stop smoking.  Inspiration and encouragement from family members and friends is vitally important for these persons to be successful in their aim to stop it.  So, to have a smoke free city, stop smoking!
