Food Friday & Food Trip Friday 102: Health Combo Meal

Healthy combo meal served at Manila Adventist Medical Center Cafeteria.  Their combo meal costs Php 75.00 and consist of 1 serving rice, 1 serving of vegetable dish of your choice, and 1 serving of meat-like recipes that serves as substitute for animal meat. To me, it’s a good combination at a good price. So even if am in Manila, I cannot patronize fast foods every meal because whenever I am just nearby the hospital, I do have my meals at MAMC cafeteria.

For everyone’s information, MAMC is serving Lacto-ovo meals.  Same with Mindanao Sanitarium and Hospital Nutrition and Dietetics department.

Have You Talked to Your Therapist Today?

Beauty therapists are professionals who know how to make someone look their best with a professional demeanor and touch. Their job is to find the best products and techniques for your face and body. Like any other therapist, beauty therapists develop a close, personal relationship with their clients.

Qualities of a Good Beauty Therapist

The number one ability a beauty therapist needs is the ability to communicate. In this business, one will deal with clients of all ages, sexes, and different backgrounds, assessing what level of communication is necessary for relaxing the client. Five other qualities found in professional beauty therapist’s are:

1.   Hospitality: Making people feel welcomed and at ease.

2.  Honesty: Making realistic statements and expectations on regimens the client needs.

3.  Discretion: Keeping the personal information of the client confidential.

4.  Listener: People do not always state issues or needs directly, so listening carefully gives attention to the client and lets one assess their needs more fully.

5.  Highly skilled: A professional who has obtained credentials and makes it their personal business to do best practices.

Client Consultation

Beauty therapists offer a variety of services. Consultations involve lifestyle checks such as active or sedentary, smoking or nonsmoking, short medical history, diet assessment, and face and body assessment. The client and the professional together will decide what issues to work on and how. It is not unusual to consult on the phone with a beauty therapist on options as one lives their daily life. There are apps that can help keep one on a beauty regiment.

Presta is an internet company that lets a person rent tech devices such as tablets and cell phones. Once the beauty therapist gives a client an evaluation and regiment input the information into an app on a phone or tablet. Presta lets one pay a small weekly fee for the use of an electronic device making keeping track of information and using technology painless.

Why Bother

Many people have a job in the public eye or must entertain a variety of clients. Life is busy and it is often hard to find time to try the latest techniques or beauty products. Using a beauty therapist lets that part of your life become taken care of in a regular way and relieves stress. Knowing that a professional is taking care of that part of you leaves you time to concentrate on the things that matter most in your life or to concentrate on aspects of your job that cater to the client. A beauty therapist is not going to make you into someone else, but simply make you look and feel your personal best.

Thank You Ajinomoto

One of the loot bags we received during the 2nd Pinay Mommy Communities Grand Eyeball was from Ajinomoto.

With their moto:  EAT WELL. LIVE WELL, I can say that for sure their spices and food enhancers  will make us appreciate our cooking.  I am not a master cook but I can cook simple foods.  So one of these days, especially the holidays is just around the corner, I will try my cooking prowess in the kitchen with the giveaways from Ajinomoto.

Together with the cooking packs are 2 Umami mags.  I still haven’t gone through all the pages in leisure manner.  But when I had a quick browse on it, hmmmm many photos of food in their that is worth the try and would make your saliva flow.

I can’t wait to try cooking something and see if the faces of my family will give me a flicker of excitement to taste what i’ve cooked.  News of it?  In weeks to come!

Again, thank you Ajinomoto! You truly made the moms happy that day.

Promoting a Smoke Free Community

Our Health Education Department is conducting lectures on Smoking Cessation with an objective that somehow, our community and Iligan City will be a smoke free city.   The program is not news because there are already some cities who bans smoking in public places and even smoking in a house with kids is not allowed.   Because of this program, I felt awkward to give out the Rocky Patel cigars that was sent by my cousin for our relatives who smoke. Although these relatives are staying very far from the city, but there would be no hard to slowly teach them to control their smoking until such time they can voluntarily stop smoking.  But to these uncles, they said that smoking is already part of their lives and if they stop they will surely die.    Because of that statement, that encourages my aunt to send several boxes of cigars for them.

There are many advantages when we have a smoke free community and number one beneficial of it is the health of our children and even ourselves.  We can avoid other terminal diseases if one really stops smoking.  It is not a quick thing to stop smoking.  Inspiration and encouragement from family members and friends is vitally important for these persons to be successful in their aim to stop it.  So, to have a smoke free city, stop smoking!

Unwinding from School Work

This is my girl!

With all her smiles, it is so obvious that she is happy of what she was doing.  She loves thrills of adventures.  This was taken during their Pathfinder camping at Initao Forest Park the other week.  I was suppose to visit her middle of the week or at most during the Sabbath, but I was down with fever and got admitted so I missed it.

Thanks to Facebook because it allows me to be updated of what was going on at the camp through their pictures and the first photo I saw of her was when she was coming out of the big canal full of mud but with all smiles for the camera.  She was wearing a dark cloth to camouflage the mud when it dries so my worries went away.  I just think that campers must have school girl costume that is disposable so that after it gets dirty with mud, there is no need for thorough washing but just be thrown away anytime.

School related camping is still school work but it is more fun so the stress is not as much as when the students are confined in the four walls of the classroom with teachers pounding them with their lessons.
